The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce is proud of the evolution of the CSR conference over the past years. It was the first conference in Greece that raised the sustainable development agenda and still does so with a clear and loud voice. Our 17th conference titled “We are the Change Generation” was a great success: 400 business leaders, sustainability professionals and university students gathered at the Benaki Museum on November 7, 2019 for a sustainability event with real substance. We were awakened, we were stimulated, we were moved from our dynamic speakers!
The need for mobilization for Sustainable Development is now everywhere around us. We know well that the best way to persuade people inside our companies is to build partnerships and alliances outside the company first. We can now claim an understanding of the 17th SDG, building partnerships for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The 17th annual CSR conference was set up with the logical flow that we should follow when dealing with sustainability in our workplace.
– We first see the risk, the problems, the issues that scare us. We study, we understand and then we choose our purpose. A purpose that must link seamlessly to our core business.
– Then we see the changes. What emerges, what we need to take into account, what we need to accomplish in order to attain our purpose.
– Then we look for inspiration to motivate others to our cause. We seek stories of people who will exemplify and inspire.
– Finally, we take action. But action that makes sense for the future, for future generations. And in order to do that, we must be receptive and listen to what the future generations are saying.
We don’t know if we are the Change Generation. What became clear during our conference is that we have no other choice than to be the one.
