The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with its Corporate Responsibility (CR) Committee, will hold its 22nd annual Corporate Responsibility conference, The Pale Blue Dot, on October 22, 2024, to take place at the iconic Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

This conference is the oldest sustainability conference in Greece and regarded as the most impactful. Throughout, its 22-year journey to sustainability, AmCham Greece consistently aims at purpose-driven business and effective contribution to sustainable change through its members.

Inspiration for the Pale Blue Dot Conference was the same-titled book by Carl Sagan and the excerpt that describes the photo of Earth taken by Voyager 1 on February 14, 1990, from a distance of 6.4 billion kilometers. In the spirit of Sagan, the Pale Blue Dot Conference will focus on some of the priority issues for the well-being and survival of humanity, as these would be observed from a perspective so distant that Earth appears as a tiny point of light. This year’s conference will focus on four sustainability issues of uncontested significance that AmCham Greece believes they need to be seamlessly embedded in every forward-looking political and business agenda.

Our goal is to focus on practical and local-scale solutions that interlink business sense to the environmental, societal, and geopolitical effects of climate change: Carbon Capture, Biodiversity, Socio-economic Impacts of Natural Disasters, and Cultural Tolerance & Integration. Key narrative of the conference will be the need for building market-wide consensus and driving the coordinated leveraging of resources (eg investment funding) towards the business opportunities arising from these four key issues.

Stay tuned!
