July 15, 2020 |The Annual Ordinary General Assembly of American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce took place, in a digital format, on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
The members of the Chamber approved all subjects of the Agenda. Prior to the voting Nikolaos Bakatselos presented the Chamber activities in 2019. He pointed out that the American – Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, every year through a series of topnotch events organized with the assistance of its committees, interventions and proposals in all sectors of the economy, aims to contribute to the institutionalization of all the necessary structural reforms for the reversal of the competitiveness deficit and the development of a friendlier and safer environment to attract investments.
Nikolaos Bakatselos also mentioned that this General Assembly coincides with his first year in the Presidency of the Chamber. He thanked the Chamber members, the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and the staff for their support and pledged his commitment to the mandate and the mission of the institution.
He referred to the changes the Chamber will implement in its operation, in this period of the pandemic crisis, not only internally but also in the way of organizing its events and activities. He emphasized that the Chamber’s priority is to support the country the economy and the society needs.
The Chamber, among others, actively participated in several initiatives and discussions with other US Chambers on issues of common interest, such as the course of the tourism sector and the next day for the EU, transatlantic relations, and others.
With the support of the committees, White Papers have been prepared to assess how the respective sectors have been affected and responded to the crisis, compiling recommendations for the country to move forward for a rapid, effective and sustainable recovery. The overall recommendations were presented to the Prime Minister’s Office, and the political leadership.
The Chamber will seek extended presence and activity in the United States. Making the most of the excellent environment in Hellenic-American relations and the positive contribution of the US Embassy in Athens.
