The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and its Corporate Responsibility Committee presented the 21st Corporate Responsibility Conference, Links: Pivoting the Human Right to Nature into Business Reality, on October 24, 2023, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

In today’s post-pandemic economic, social, and environmental context and its rapidly changing conditions, the conference aimed to initiate a creative dialogue to reposition the connections of entrepreneurship, society, and environment within a framework of protecting and respecting human rights.

Key conference topics covered included the connection between societal prosperity and natural environment through the unique lense of the Ubuntu philosophy of an altruistic social model, how the business community can contribute in combating trafficking and human slavery, what are the legal rights of ecosystems and what is the meaning of the term “oikoktonia” and how can shipping contribute to the green transition, how can urban development influence our lifestyle, influence sustainability and how data and technology can be allies for sustainable cities, what is the concept of unified one health and how closely is human health connected with animal health and nature health, and how nations that support and promote the concept of social justice become more sustainable.  The conference closed with an interactive art experience where the conference delegates had the opportunity to understand the transformative power of art to promote sustainability, through finding value in recyclable wastes and creating beauty through reusability.
