Launched in May 2025, AmCham Greece’s new office in Washington DC affords the Chamber a permanent presence in the United States, allowing it to work on the ground, at the heart of US and global decisionmaking, to deliver value for member companies and fortify bilateral trade relations.  

House Happy Hour 

The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce – USA hosted a welcoming House Happy Hour on September 19, 2025, at its headquarters in Washington DC. The event was a fantastic opportunity for interested parties to meet the AmCham GR-US team and learn about the Chamber’s work. Participants were introduced to Greece as an attractive business and investment destination and a gateway to both the mature markets of the European Union and the untapped potential of Southeast Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and beyond. The event further showcased the various membership opportunities available and highlighted the benefits that AmCham members enjoy.  

Spotlight: From Tariffs to Opportunity

On August 20, 2025, the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce – USA released a paper on transatlantic trade and tariffs with a focus on Greece, shedding light on the framework underpinning US-Greece trade and investment and illustrating how economic ties between the two countries can continue to flourish even amid the challenges and uncertainty of today’s unstable international landscape.

Titled From Tariffs to Opportunity: US-Greece Economic Cooperation in a Volatile World, the paper outlines recent policy escalations, focusing on the US-EU exchange of tariffs, countermeasures, and negotiations, and maps the key points of transatlantic trade tensions and bilateral economic ties across strategic sectors of the economy, identifying areas where aligned strategic interests create promising business and investment opportunities. It looks at the possible objectives and benefits of the Trump administration’s shifting trade policy and reflects on its impact on global trade dynamics. Noting that we’re entering a new era of global trade equilibriums with redefined economic partnerships and alliances, it outlines potential risks and challenges and emphasizes the need for businesses to remain engaged, adaptive, and alert and adopt a longterm sector-specific monitoring approach.

The paper, which points out that despite frictions, “the very scale of US-EU trade underscores the enduring interdependence of the two economies and the potential for Greece to position itself as a stable partner within this broader framework,” then shifts its focus to the longstanding strategic partnership between Greece and the United States. Emphasis is placed on sectors that have historically formed the backbone of US-Greece trade and which continue to offer considerable opportunities, including defense and energy, which function as pillars of mutual security and regional stability, and steel and aluminum.

Not least, the paper highlights Greece’s ongoing appeal as an attractive destination for US investments, noting the country’s impressive and diversified recovery and resilient, reform-driven economy. GDP growth remains strong, key sectors are showing excellent performance, private sector confidence is high, and the quality of investment inflows is evolving, with the focus shifting toward innovation-led, productivity-enhancing investment that supports longterm competitiveness. The US, meanwhile, remains a compelling destination for Greek investors, who can minimize their exposure to undue risk through informed planning, sectoral focus, and careful partner selection.
