AmCham Greece’s Taxation Committee members held a constructive meeting with Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Dimitris Markopoulos, to discuss current tax policy developments, business priorities, and the role of taxation in supporting Greece’s economic competitiveness and growth agenda.
The discussion focused on key challenges facing businesses, including tax certainty, regulatory simplification, digital transformation of tax administration, and measures to strengthen Greece’s attractiveness as an investment destination. Committee members shared practical insights from the business community on enhancing compliance efficiency, reducing administrative burdens, and fostering an environment conducive to innovation and long-term investment.
A significant part of the exchange was devoted to the evolving European tax landscape and the opportunities presented by Greece’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2027. Participants explored how Greece can contribute to shaping discussions on competitiveness, economic resilience, digitalization, and tax modernization at the European level.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of continuous dialogue between policymakers and the business community and highlighted the shared commitment to promoting policies that support sustainable economic growth, investment, and Greece’s active role in shaping the future European policy agenda.
