On the occasion of the organization of the USA Pavilion at DEFEA 2025 International Defense & Security Exhibition, a high-level event entitled “New Prospects on Cybersecurity and Defense Industrial Cooperation, Investments and Extroversion” took place on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Metropolitan Expo, Conference Hall C1.
Tasos Chatzivasileiou, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Noam Katz, Ambassador of Israel and Nikolaos Bakatselos, President of AmChamGR, opened the event with their insightful speeches. Alexia Tassouli, International Correspondent, took the floor right after and opened the fruitful discussion,
The 1st discussion panel entitled: “The role of Cyber defense on critical infrastructures for national and economic security” was focused on Greece’s current national policy framework for protecting critical infrastructure from cyber threats is evolving to meet the growing complexity of modern security challenges. Cyber risks not only threaten national security but also have significant implications for economic stability and growth, underscoring the urgent need for a coordinated response. Strengthening collaboration between academic institutions, research centers, government, and industry is vital to closing skill gaps in emerging and disruptive technologies, ensuring Greece has the expertise to address future threats.
During the 2nd discussion panel, entitled: “Empowering the Greek defense industry”, the discussion focused on the key factors to enhance its global competitiveness. It is necessary to create a robust ecosystem that links small, medium, and large enterprises and which is capable to enhance collaboration, drive innovation, and improve supply chain integration is necessary. Attracting greater investment through joint ventures and private capital is another key step toward building a resilient and forward-looking Greek defense sector.
