As the United States and Greece enter a moment of profound geopolitical and technological transformation, the partnership between our two nations stands stronger than ever. As the first woman U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Ambassador Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle reflects on the deepening commercial ties, strategic cooperation, and shared ambitions that are shaping this new chapter—from landmark energy agreements and emerging-tech collaboration to the vital role of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce in expanding opportunities for businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. In this exclusive message for Business Partners, she highlights how trust, innovation, and common values are driving a relationship poised for even greater growth in the years ahead.

It is the honor of a lifetime to represent the United States in Greece—a country whose spirit, history, and values have inspired generations of Americans, including my own family.  From the moment I arrived, I’ve been struck by the warmth of the Greek people and the dynamism of this extraordinary country.

I am especially proud to work alongside the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, one of our Mission’s most valued and effective partners. AmCham Greece is a force multiplier for U.S. business, a trusted advocate for our companies, and a vital connector of ideas, talent, and opportunity.  Together, we are charting a bold course for deeper commercial engagement.

Facilitating deals that benefit both our nations is at the heart of my mission. One powerful example is this year’s historic Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC) Ministerial in Athens. With over 850 public and private sector leaders from across Central and Eastern Europe, we witnessed concrete outcomes:

  • The first-ever 20-year commercial agreement to deliver U.S. LNG through Greece and into Southeast and Central Europe—an energy milestone and a strategic win for allied cooperation.
  • New multilateral commitments to harmonize tariffs along the Vertical Gas Corridor.
  • Long-term partnerships to ensure Europe’s energy future is secure, diversified, and free from coercion.

But energy is just the beginning. We are entering a decisive moment of technological transformation – AI, quantum computing, cybersecurity, biotech, autonomous systems – and I’m proud that the United States and Greece are forging strong new bonds in these critical areas. The U.S.- Greece Economic Security Declaration, signed in Athens on November 7, is the first of its kind globally and positions Greece not only as a geopolitical anchor, but as a trusted partner in secure supply chains, responsible tech governance, and innovation.

My commitment is clear: I will be a tireless advocate for U.S. businesses operating and investing in Greece. Together, we can strengthen supply chains, expand digital infrastructure, increase energy connectivity, and unlock new markets in shipping, logistics, tourism, agriculture, and more.

As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th year of independence in 2026, it is fitting that we do so here Greece, the birthplace of democracy. Our partnership is rooted in shared values, but it is our shared ambitions that will define the next chapter.

And as we pause to celebrate Thanksgiving this week, I do so with gratitude—for the exceptional U.S.–Greece alliance, for the partnerships we are building together, and for the opportunity to serve in a nation that truly lives with heart, with heritage, and with hope for the future.

With appreciation,

Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle
